Staff Changes in Lao-German Team

In November 2014, ProCEEd bid good bye to members of the Lao-German team. Lissa Peters and Charlotte Bieger completed an internship on solid waste management. GIZ advisor Uwe Singer was responsible for environmental bus tours and non-formal environmental education activities. In May 2015, the new GIZ advisor is expected to arrive. New Environmental Radio Program in Khammouane

The radio stations in Thakhek and Boualapha, Khammouane started broadcasting the weekly magazine “For the Environment” in August 2014. In mid October, journalists from both stations and staff of the Lao-German HNN-NPA project joined forces with LNR trainers and a German media specialist to improve the program’s quality by producing two 30-minute master magazines. Environmental Bus Tour Stages Theatre Play on Forest Protection

On 12 Oct, 2014 ProCEEd started a one-month Environmental Bus Tour to, Sayaboury province. As part of the preparation, the tour teams from DEQP and PADETC joined an additional one-week theatre training with professional actors from Lao National Theatre on 1-7 Oct, 2014. National Strategy on Environmental and Climate Change Education and Awareness 2016-2030 Revised

On 6 Oct 2014, stakeholders in a workshop in Vientiane discussed the revised National Strategy on Environmental and Climate Change Education and Awareness 2016-2030 and the related Five Year Action Plan 2016-2020. ProCEEd Extended until 2017

The Lao and German governments decided to extend the ProCEEd project until September 2017. On 28. Aug, 2014, the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development commissioned the extension as part of Lao-German development cooperation. Implemented by GIZ and DEQP of MoNRE, the project is the only major initiative in environmental education, communication and awareness raising in Laos. More...

Radio Training for Promoting Environmental Awareness in Khammouane
ProCEEd organized a radio training workshop in Thakek, Khammouane from 26 to 30 May, 2014. Professional trainers from Lao National Radio assisted by a development communication specialist from Germany provided both basic radio journalism and practice-oriented learning-by-doing on how to produce attractive environmental news and features. Lao Mass Media Trained in Environmental Journalism
For five days, Dirk Asendorpf of Die Zeit in Germany and Wasant Techawongtham of the Bangkok Post in Thailand shared their expertise on environmental journalism with 27 of their colleagues from Lao print and broadcasting media. Training on Provincial Environmental Radio Programs

ProCEEd trained journalists from radio stations in Khammouane and Houaphan on environmental radio program productions. More...


You can now watch 12 professionally produced documentary films broadcast on LNTV in 2017. Three or four episodes of 15 minutes each make up for a mini-series that focuses on a specific topic, e.g. wildlife or forest protection. More films supported by ProCEEd and other GIZ projects are shown as well.


You can listen in to selected radio programs produced by LNR Khammouane in Thakek and Boualapha as well as by LNR Huaphan in Sam Neua and Houameuang. Some of them have even been translated into Khmu and Hmong language. Three 15-min episodes make up for a mini-series that focuses on a specific topic.


At the provincial and district level, Environmental Tours with entertaining environmental education activities regularly tour four provinces and Vientiane Capital. A bus and a truck using solar-powered equipment facilitate film, theatre and local learning and discussion initiatives. Don’t miss the tour!
